The Buffalo Bills really stepped things up with the community involvement lately. Not only did New York's only NFL team help bring girls flag football to high schools in Western New York, but they are also making a huge financial investment in another local school.

As part of a partnership with Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) of Western New York and the NFL Foundation, the Buffalo Bills are donating $250,000 to Tapestry Charter School in North Buffalo to cover the cost of the synthetic turf field that will be installed at their new Community Track and Multi-Sport Athletic Complex that is being constructed on their school campus on Great Arrow Ave.

This donation is a part of the larger Grassroots Program that is sponsored by the NFL Foundation and will facilitate more than $6 million in investments across the country.

Not only will this new facility be available for the more than 1,000 students who attend Tapestry Charter School, but the entire community will be able to utilize the sports complex. The sports facility is being designed to support multiple sports, including youth football, flag football, lacrosse, soccer, and track and field.

This is a very special moment in Tapestry’s 20-year history, and I couldn’t be more excited for our school and the wider community across the City of Buffalo... Our work is all about expanding access and opportunity to the students and families we serve, and thanks to the Buffalo Bills, the NFL Foundation and LISC, the Buffalo community will have greater, more equitable access to facilities for youth sports, and thus all the benefits of health, wellness and social and emotional well-being that comes with it.
-Eric Klapper, Executive Director of Tapestry Charter School

The total cost for the new sports complex is estimated to be approximately $2.1 million and construction is expected to begin as soon as all of the necessary funds are secured.
