These Are The Best Spooky Season Decorations In Buffalo
One of our favorite holidays here in the Buffalo area is right around the corner- are you ready?
Houses all over Western New York have decked out their porches and lawns with their favorite Halloween décor. When driving around your local neighborhood, prepare to see cobwebs, ghosts, monsters, and plenty of spooky lighting that are ready to freak out the upcoming trick-or-treaters.
However, over the past few years, we’ve seen another specific Halloween decoration become more and more popular, especially here in Buffalo, for a very special reason.
Here’s Why Flamingos Are Popular Buffalo Decoration
If you had to designate an official bird of Buffalo, it could be the pink flamingo. Those admittingly tacky but fabulous plastic pink flamingos that some may consider cheesy are a lawn staple here in the 716.
First becoming popular in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, the love of these iconic lawn decorations spread throughout Western New York, calling some to call Buffalo the “pink flamingo capital of America.”
Here in Buffalo, we paint them on our murals, we turn them into paddle boats to peddle on Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park, and we even line up thousands of them in Delaware Park to break a Guinness World Record.
So it’s no surprise that locals give their beloved plastic pink flamingos a fun Halloween upgrade.
