Major Cash For Students In New York State

There is big money available to students in the Empire State this coming year. As we get ready to countdown the minutes to 2023, there are some things for those who work hard to look forward to.

If there is money available to you as a student, why not try to go after as much as you can get? Every opportunity that comes your way should be taken advantage of and here is a good one.

New York State has opened the application process for the Excelsior Scholarship for the Spring 2023 term. The scholarship, combined with other financial aid, allows eligible full-time students to attend a SUNY or CUNY school tuition-free.

If you are a current recipient, you don't need to apply again.

Students from households with federal adjusted gross incomes up to $125,000 are eligible for a Spring Excelsior Scholarship award. Students must also:

Plan to attend a SUNY or CUNY two or four-year college
Complete 30 credits per year towards their program of study (including Summer and Winter terms); and
Be on track to graduate with an Associate's Degree in two years or a Bachelor's Degree in four years.

Looking back, I wish I had gone after every grant and scholarship that I could. Paying for college is very hard and after 15 years of hefty payments, I was able to get out from under them and be free of student debt.
