An all-weather carousel for Canalside is getting closer to reality. $1.2 million dollars in funding from New York State last week is moving the project ever closer and it all begins with a Herschell-Spillman carousel built in North Tonawanda in 1924.
Gasoline Spill
Crews in North Tonawanda worked for hours on Tuesday to contain a gasoline spill in the Erie Canal caused by a partial submerged pleasure boat. The boat was found floating on its side while docked along Sweeney Street directly across from the Remington Restaurant early Tuesday morning.
