The announcement was made yesterday by SUNYAC according to Syracuse.com

This was not an easy decision and I empathize with all of our student-athletes across the SUNYAC,” Erik Bitterbaum, the chair of the SUNYAC presidents said in a statement. “However, despite our best efforts to plan for a winter season, our priority must be the health and safety of everyone involved with intercollegiate athletics, and our campuses as a whole.”

This will have a big impact on schools here in Western New York. Buffalo State, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo, and SUNY Fredonia all play in the SUNYAC league.

The Winter sports season consists of men's hockey, men’s and women’s basketball. The championships for men’s and women’s swimming & diving and men’s and women’s indoor track & field have also been canceled due the COVID-19.

Officials with SUNYAC stated they will resume talks about if and when Spring sports would be played coming up later this year.
