The 12 Best Days of Summer will begin in just a few more months as the 2025 Erie County Fair will open on August 6-17th.
What Is Happening Across The Street From The Erie County Fair?
If you happen to pass the Erie County Fairgrounds in the next week or so, or when you head to the fair this summer, you will see that there has been a good deal of work done across the street on the eastern side of McKinley Parkway. That land has been purchased by the Erie County Agricultural Society (the group that operates and plans the fair) recently and the plan is to make more room for parking cars.
I spoke with Jessica Underberg, the CEO of the Erie County Agricultural Society/EC Fair, and she told me, "We will be keeping two of the storage buildings that are on the property (for storage) and will keep that property mowed and cleaned".
Creating more spaces for parking and keeping that land open/not developed will help prevent other buildings/homes from being added to that side of McKinley as well.
"It's a purchase that made sense and poise us for the future of the fairgrounds", she went on to tell me.
Below are a few pictures of the land and the work that is underway. It's a big job but seems to be moving along very well. The white house along the road will also be taken down after briefly being used for training by local firefighters.
