Buffalo will have one of the best views in the world to see a total solar eclipse in 2024.

It might not be a bad idea to put April 8, 2024 7:20 pm in your calendar now, as that is the exact moment we will be experiencing a full solar eclipse viewable in Buffalo, NY.

According to NASA, here's the full path of the 2024 solar eclipse, and it looks like WNY will have a great view.

If you can't wait until then, Buffalo will be in the path of a partial solar eclipse on June 10, 2021.

According to Wikipedia, being in the path of a total solar eclipse is a pretty rare thing; while they happen around every 18 months on Earth, "it is estimated that they recur at any given place only once every 360 to 410 years, on average."

So for Buffalo to have two eclipses within seven years is very rare; we were just shy of being in the path of complete totality in the 2017 eclipse. Buffalo is centralized in the path of totality for the 2024 eclipse.

However, if pandemic preparedness has taught us anything, it's to get a hold of your eclipse glasses now before they're all sold out in a few years!
