The weather pattern has been extremely active in Western New York over the last few weeks. Rain, snow, and wind have been the stories since the beginning of March, which has caused some headaches for Buffalonians as we can't get a week's worth of quiet weather.

The good news is that by the weekend, we are looking for a week of sunny skies and no rain or snow, even getting into multiple 60-degree days by next Monday through Wednesday.

We do have to get through Wednesday though, as heavy thunderstorms are expected in Western New York today.

The National Weather Service has been forecasting the threat of severe thunderstorms in Buffalo and Western New York today. Late morning will see some moving through with some potential downpours, but will be gone by early afternoon.

However, late afternoon is what to watch for.

4 pm to 9 pm is what meteorologists are worried about, as those heavy thunderstorms should move through right when traffic is at its highest for the evening commute.

Heavy downpours, hail and even a tornado or two are possible with these storms.

As you can see, 5 pm is right when those storms should pass over the region.

Make sure you're prepared for these storms. If you're at work and have the means to leave early, it's probably a good day to do so. Hopefully, there are zero tornadoes with these storms and we can avoid hail, but as the saying goes..."prepare for the worst, hope for the best."
