Two Of The Best Country Songs Share An Anniversary Today, July 16 [VIDEOS]

Today is the day that two of the all-time best country songs celebrate an anniversary.

Ronnie Milsap's "It Was Almost Like A Song" and Alabama's "The Closer You Get" both achieved top honors on the chart on July 16. For Milsap it was in 1977, and for Alabama, 1983.

These songs still live on on WYRK on Wide Open Country on Saturday mornings between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.

I am a sucker for a good, traditional sounding ballad and love song. I enjoy the cheating songs as well. However, both of these songs rank close to the top as some of my favorites! Maybe it's me getting older? But they sure don't make songs like these any more!
