It's a new era at the University at Buffalo.  The football program has hired a new head coach and today they introduced him to Western New York.

It's been a rough road for the past couple of years for UB Football.  For years, they were on the rise.  They had gone to multiple bowl games and even won the MAC championship in 2008 under coach Turner Gill.  They've had multiple players get drafted or signed into the NFL including standout linebacker Khalil Mack who was drafted 5th overall in the first round of the 2014 draft.

Lance Leipold was the last coach to leave UB with a winning record.  He was the coach of the Bulls from 2015-2020 and left with a record just over .500 at 37-30.  Coach Maurice Linguist (known as Coach Mo) was the most recent coach from 2021-2023.  Coach Mo saw seasons of 4-8 (2021), 7-6 (2022) and 3-9 (2023).  He then left to become the Defensive Coordinator at the University of Alabama under Nick Saban.

Today, the Bulls are hoping to usher in a new culture of winning with their latest hire.  They introduced Coach Pete Lembo as the new head coach of the UB Bulls.  Lembo comes to us most recently from the University of South Carolina where he served as their Special Teams Coach.  It was a unit that was the highest-rated special teams unit in college football in 2022.

Lembo has come up through the smaller college ranks and he admits that many of the places he's been has been a situation where he's had to do more with less.
