It ain't over yet! The long winter months are here and parts of Western and Upstate New York are about to get pounded with lake effect snow.

The winter can be a drag if you don't embrace the snow and the cold. Lucky for some, there are so many great winter activities to do in The Empire State.

But even the most avid winter fan will admit that driving in the blowing and drifting snow is not an adventure we look forward to and this week will be a good reminder of that.

The forecast as we start the new week is calling for another round of heavy lake effect snow. It is a story that we know very well and the typical areas along the Great Lakes can expect more than a foot or more of snow.

I for one am pretty excited for the snow. Aside from the fact that it makes it tough to travel, and schools MAY have an issue staying open, the snow is a fun way to get through the coldest part of the year. Our annual snowmobile trip to the Tug Hill region is about to start and it looks like conditions will be great!

There is a bit of good news for those who are counting the days until spring. The amount of daylight is getting longer and longer each day and it is starting to become noticeable. Those warm summer days are months away but the sunshine, when we see it, sure makes things a little better.
