Why is Von Miller Suspended But Not Other NFL Players?
Von Miller has been suspended by the NFL without pay for 4 games. He is not eligible to play for the Bills until their first game in November.
Why was Von Miller suspended?
Although the NFL did not state why he was suspended, many outlets believe the suspension stems from "Miller’s felony domestic violence incident last fall. Miller turned himself into police in Texas last November on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman, which is a third-degree felony. Miller was accused of assaulting his longtime girlfriend and mother of his children at their shared home in Dallas", according to Yahoo.
Now, the case was closed without charges being filed. But, just because a case is closed without charges, does not mean the NFL does not continue to investigate.
A lot of fans were wondering why he was suspended when there are other players in the league who have similar or worse crimes associated with them and here is why:
"A player violates this Policy when he has a disposition of a criminal proceeding (as defined), or if
the league’s investigation demonstrates that he engaged in conduct prohibited by the Policy. In cases in
which a player is not charged with a crime, or is charged but not convicted, he may still be found to have
violated the Policy if the credible evidence establishes that he engaged in prohibited conduct.", according to the NFL Policy.
Desean Watson, the Celevland Browns Quarterback, violated the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. He had over 24 women accuse him of sexual assult or inappropriate conduct during massage sessions.
- He was fined 5 million dollars by the NFL.
- He was suspended for 11 games.
- He was required to go to classes.
- He settled at least over 20 of the lawsuits.
