The National Weather Service has issued an alert of possible heavy lake-effect snow in Erie, Wyoming, and Genesee counties later this week, beginning this Thursday evening and ending later on Sunday.

It remains to be seen precisely where and exactly how much snow is coming our way, but the NWS warns that several areas in Western New York, including the Buffalo metro, could see heavy snow for prolonged periods of time and up to two feet of snow in the most persistent snow bands.

This first massive dose of winter weather is bound to affect not only your Friday morning commute but any upcoming weekend plans as well - including Sunday’s anticipated Buffalo Bills home game against the Cleveland Browns.

These next few days, when the weather is relatively clear, is the perfect time to make sure all of your ducks are in a row. Make sure you’ve run your snowblower or know where your shovel is, your snow brush and window scraper are readily accessible, your vehicle’s fluids are checked, and tires are properly inflated,

If you have the option to work from home on Friday, you may want to make sure that your equipment is properly working in that department as well.
