According to Hochul, if things continue to progress, she's cautiously optimistic that Phase 2 start on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Government leaders will evaluate if the region has seen a set back from Memorial Day Weekend over the next few days, but if everything is on schedule, June 2nd is when Phase 2 will begin.

As far as the businesses opening next week in Phase 2, Hocul said these businesses WILL be able to open with protocols:

  • Hair Salons
  • Barber Shops
  • Offices (legal, insurance agencies, accounting)
  • Small, Locally-owned Retail

Rochester and Syracuse's regions will be going into Phase 2 starting this Friday, so they're a few days ahead of Western New York.

This means the earliest Phase 3 can begin will be June 16th (restaurants and bars), so that's something to hopefully look forward to!
