Remember the tornadoes and storms here in Western New York? Certainly this past summer's storms were not the caliber that we have seen in Texas. However, the damage that occurred after the rain and winds in our area will take considerable money for repairs.

Governor Cuomo is asking the Federal Government for funds to help with costs and cleanup. Wyoming County is one of 15 counties throughout New York that Cuomo is calling "Disaster Zones."

According to New York State of Politics:

Whether it’s severe flooding, devastating wind storms, or intense blizzards, extreme weather is becoming the new normal in New York and — as we’ve seen — across the nation,” Cuomo said in a statement. “I urge the federal government to recognize the severity of damage and take action to provide New Yorkers the funding and assistance they need now.”

The labeling allows for New York to seek FEMA funds. With a price tag of over $30 million, citizens in Wyoming County and the 14 others, the Disaster Declaration is a welcomed plan.
