If you're looking for something fun and educational to get the kids out of the house this week, the Aquarium of Niagara is holding a special event just for them.

It's called "Yule-Tide Days" and they're hoping families will come to visit their incredible sea animals.

If you stop out this week, the kids will get $5 off their admission and all kinds of other perks like a free cup of hot chocolate, a scavenger hunt that will take place all over the aquarium, cookie sales, and promotions in the gift shop.

The aquarium is hoping that the event will help them to recover a little of the revenue that they lost this year due to the pandemic. As you can imagine, their attendance has been much lower than in years past.

According to WIVB, they are down about 64% and have plenty of expenses to cover still.

As you can imagine it isn't cheap to feed all those mouths. And that doesn't even factor in all the lights that it takes to illuminate the displays and filters that have to constantly run to keep the animals healthy.

Of course, if you're a little nervous to be around people and you're trying to maintain social distancing, the Aquarium of Niagara is following all COVID-19 protocols including social distancing, maintaining a limited capacity, and encouraging everyone to continue washing their hands and using hand sanitizer.

"Yule-Tide Days" end this weekend. So if you have to get your kids out of the house this week, consider the Aquarium of Niagara. Click here for more info on "Yule-Tide Days."
