First of all, why is there an award for World’s Ugliest Dog?

Meet: Peanut.

He’s believed to be a mix between Chihuahua and shih-tzu and has won the annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest. His owner, Holly Chandler from North Carolina, took home the $1,500 prize.

The contest usually looks for dogs that don’t have the most normal and pretty characteristics — bald spots, abnormally large or small heads, one- to three-legged dogs, and so on.

Peanut was actually adopted by Holly after he was abused by a previous owner. He has had some serious burns that have left him with bald patches.
