Heartbreaking Update About Buffalo Bills Co-Owner Kim Pegula

People have been wondering what is going on with Kim Pegula from the Buffalo Bills.  Today there was an update, and it was heartbreaking.

Tim Graham of "The Athletic" wrote today that the heart attack Kim Pegula suffered nearly 2 years ago was even more severe than we all thought.  Many of us have been waiting on an update to say that she was getting better and would soon be resuming her position as co-owner of the Buffalo Bills with her husband Terry Pegula.

However, it looks as though that will not be happening.

What happened to Kim Pegula?

In June of 2022, shortly after celebrating her 53rd birthday, Kim Pegula went into cardiac arrest.  The Associated Press had reported that she was being treated at the hospital and would be released to undergo what they called a lengthy rehab process.

The public was asked to grant the Pegula's their privacy during this time.

That was two years ago.

Kim returned to watch pre-season practice

In July of 2023 the AP reported that Kim had made an appearance at practice but remained in a vehicle that was parked in the end zone at St. John Fisher College where the Bills hold camp before the season.

Terry Pegula takes over as Kim's guardian

According to Graham, Kim's husband and co-owner of the Bills, Terry Pegula filed to have Kim ruled incapacitated and to be made her guardian February of 2023. Then on March 23, 2023, a judge named Terry the “plenary guardian of the person and property” of his wife.

A longtime Pegula family associate briefed on her condition and prognosis said "Kim is not coming back" to the Sabres or the Bills.

Pegula has added his daughter Laura into the succession plans

In order to satisfy a league policy on succession planning, Terry had transferred a small percentage of the team to his daughter Laura (from his previous marriage, not Kim's biological daughter).  She has already been representing the Bills in multiple events like the annual owners meetings, and the state of the NFL address last month in Orlando.

Above all, and aside from the uncertainty of what is going to happen with the Buffalo Bills, many people are simply sharing prayers for the family as Kim has been a very loved part of this community.
