The City of Buffalo is celebrating Earth Day in May.  Make plans for Saturday, May 20th from 9 am to 12 noon when the city invites you to a free shredding, clothing recycle and bike donation event.

The city will shred and dispose of any personal documents, anything with account or social security numbers, bank or medical statements, tax documents and similar items.  Anything you wouldn't want in the hands of people who might use your information improperly or illegally.

Unused, unwanted clothing will also be collected, including worn and torn clothing, shoes and fabric.  All donations are used to help the needy in Western New York.

Also being accepted at this event are bicycles in any condition.  The Recycle-A-Bike program is used to teach at-risk students how to repair and maintain bicycles by building bicycles from refurbished parts.  So any donation is welcome.

It's happening at the Citizens Alliance, 836 East Delevan Avenue in Buffalo.  It's your chance to help the environment, help the community, while clearing out unwanted items from your home and property.
