How many potato chip flavors do we need? For me, barbeque, salt and vinegar, maybe sour cream and onion and just plain old regular will do. But when you’re the world’s largest potato chip maker you need dozens. Lays puts out such flavors as Dill Pickle, Ketchup, Garden Tomato & Basil, Thai Sweet Chili, Oven Roasted Chicken & Thyme, even Seaweed. Most of those flavors are available overseas, but in this country Lays averages one new flavor a year and this year they’re asking for your help. They’ve introduced three new flavors this year and online vote will determine which one they’ll keep.

The choices are:

  • Chicken and Waffles
  • Cheesy Garlic Bread
  • Sriracha – a hot sauce often used in Thai dishes

You can vote for your favorite on Lay's Facebook Page

And Lay’s is making it worth your time. One of the people who submits what turns out to be the winning flavor will win $1-million or one percent of the chip’s 2013 sales, whichever is higher. The runners up will receive $50-thousand.

Those new chips will be available in stores beginning tomorrow.

Lay’s Potato Chips have been around since 1932.

Barbeque Chips were introduced in 1958 and only those two chips were sold until other flavors started to be introduced in the early 1990’s.
