For the second night in a row, the Sabres came up short, but you can't question their effort.

The Sabres tied the Toronto Maple Leafs with a power play goal early in the third period on a goal by Cody Hodgson, but lost in a shootout to fall to the Leafs 4-3 in Toronto.

Ryan Miller had another great game in goal until the shootout, where he usually shines. But this time, he allowed goals against all three Toronto shooters.

In addition to Hodgson, Matt Moulson and Matt Ellis had the Buffalo goals.

The Sabres are back home again Saturday night against Columbus.
