Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday and while much of the country will be looking for a baby in a cake, we here in Western New York will be downing delicious Polish donuts called Paczki. But are you saying it right?

It's fair to say that there have been a lot of cancelled events this past year. But Paczki Day at the Broadway Market is NOT getting cancelled.

Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, many Packi's were consumed.  Yes I'm aware the authentic Polish Paczki is jelly filled, but I was curious to find out if Western New preferred the original over the other choices like lemon or custard. A Polish tradition here in this area and other cities with a heavily Polish heritage is the Pazcki

It's a long-time Polish tradition in Buffalo, but I was surprised how many people didn't know how to pronounce the name.  Paczki is a Polish word describing what basically is a big jelly-filled donut.

Today is Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras.  Whatever you want to call it – it’s the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.  And for many Christians it’s a day to party it up, to eat their favorite foods and drink their favorite beverages.
