Tonight is the night to "duet." The new singing competition called ‘Duets’ premieres on ABC tonight and gives us a new twist. Four superstars will compete alongside their chosen amateur duet partners. Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles has found two singers to compete, R&B influenced J Rome and her fellow Georgia native John Glossom. I would think Jennifer will have an upper hand in this competition, seeing how she is part of a duo and will have experience sharing the spotlight and singing harmony with a partner.
ABC will try to tap in to the success of “the Voice” and “American Idol” with a new show called “Duets”. The show puts a different spin on the average singing competition. Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Lionel Ritchie and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles have all signed on and will travel across America to find singers to be their duet partners. Every week, the celebrity and one of their "discoveries" will perform in front of a live studio audience.
Sugarland vocalist and newlywed Jennifer Nettles wrapped up a busy end of 2011, which included getting married as well as performing at Christmas specials and the Nobel Peace Prize concert, by appearing at the Kennedy Center Honors on Dec. 27. The performance saluted the one and only Neil Diamond. Nettles performed a flawless rendition of Diamond’s classic, torchy ballad ‘Hello Again.’
There was a lot of stuff going on in the country world this week. From the CMA Christmas special to the Grammy nominations special, what were some of your favorite stars writing about on Twitter? Here are some of my favorites:
Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles has been asked to host the CMA country Christmas special for a second year. The two hour show will be taped on November 10th which is the day after the CMA Awards and will air on ABC during the holidays. I watched the special last year and thought Jennifer did a great job hosting. Word is she is pleased to have been asked back to host once again.
What a great tribute to some of the greatest female singers in the history of country music. The Academy of Country Music Girls' Night Out on CBS Friday night honored Reba McEntire, Jennifer Nettles, Carrie Underwood, the Judds, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert and Loretta Lynn.
I'm a guy who really truly does have a great respect for all genres of music. I like at least something from just about every type of music you can imagine. But whatever happened to awards shows showcasing the type of music that the awards represent?
Jennifer Nettles hosted the CMA Country Christmas special on ABC with Guest Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Reba, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, Kellie Pickler, Little Big Town and Sheryl Crow
