If you're one of those people who tend to just park yourself in front of the TV at the end of the day and find yourself watching reruns of "Everybody Loves Raymond" or "Seinfeld", you might actually be doing your brain a favor.
My daughter is in her junior year at Williamsville East high School and in the process of looking at colleges to go to. So far this spring she has traveled to Chicago and Boston among other places to look at different schools
The skeletal remains of as many as 150 people and their coffins were recently uncovered on the University of Buffalo South campus by work crews replacing sewer lines. It turns out the campus is on the grounds of what used to be the Erie County Poor House where destitute individuals would live.
Saturday night was the home opener for the University at Buffalo Bulls football season. What a fantastic night all around. The team played well. The weather was perfect and the tribute to the Heros was just outstanding.
For higher education value – there are four local colleges that rank nationally among the best. The University of Buffalo, Geneseo, Fredonia and Brockport are ranked in the Top 100 among public colleges in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine January, 2011 issue.
Kiplinger’s says their data is based on affordability and academics at four-year schools using SAT or ACT scores, admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios and graduation rates.
