This week's Hometown Hero is 22-year-old Hamburg native Zachary Knorr. He's a specialist in the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan in January.

Buffalo will always be home to Zachary. Despite the past seasons, Zachary remains a true Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan. He even has a Sabres chair in Afghanistan! What does he miss the most? Mighty Taco and Penora's Pizzeria!

His first duty station was in South Korea, where he stayed for a year. And that was just after he married his high school sweetheart Jilliann. He has since been stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C. In January of this year he was deployed to Afghanistan. Sadly, he had to leave his wife while pregnant with their first child. Those that know him recall his long hair, earrings and rock and skater persona.

Zachary’s family is so proud of the man he has become. He just reenlisted for additional service while on deployment!

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them right here on WYRK.com, but we'll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
