There are some amazing towns, villages and smaller cities across New York State. However, a recent study suggests that there is one place that is better than the rest to live in!

Many people think that New York State is just an extension of New York City. However, when you get outside of the Big Apple, New York has so much to offer. From the Adirondack Mountains to Niagara Falls, the Empire State is loaded with natural beauty.

When it comes to everyday life, and how satisfied people are with their quality of life, it is Albany that tops the list.

According to the news, US News & World Reports 2023-2024 Best Places to Live in the Empire State survey has named Albany as top choice.

In their findings, it was noted that, "the region doesn't have the crowds or costs of a major metro area, and Albany has an old-world appeal to it. There are rows of colorfully painted, turn-of-the-century brownstones, the historic state capitol building and the iconic Empire State Plaza".

So often, when those of us who were born and raised here in New York State mention our hometown to others from different states, they assume that we live a fast-paced lifestyle and it is always loud with traffic, crime and bright lights. However, take a ride from one end of the New York State Thruway to the other, you will see quaint small towns, farmland and gorgeous, wide open spaces.
