Thousands Lose Power in WNY: Transformer Also Explodes In Buffalo

According to WIVB, thousands across Western New York are without power this afternoon. NYSEG is reporting 31 outages with nearly 4,500 customers without power.
National Grid is reporting 38 outages with nearly 2,500 customers without power.
Impacted areas include Buffalo, Cheektowaga, Amherst, Tonawanda, Hamburg and West Seneca.
According to WKBW, a transformer exploded at a substation on Ohio Street. The cloud of smoke from the explosion could be seen on Lake Erie.
Traffic is asked to avoid the area. No word on potential injuries that may have occurred.
Some people near our neighborhood are without power in South Buffalo and two separate street lights were blinking.
