The World Junior Hockey Championships are underway in Buffalo with Team USA and Team Canada coming away with preliminary round victories.  The Americans beat Finland 3 to 2 while Canada topped Russia 6 to 3 with Sabres prospect Marcus Foligno - son of former Sabre Mike Foligno - scoring one of  Team Canada's goals.

Switzerland beat Germany and Sweden defeated Norway in Sunday's two other games. 

Monday's games feature Slovakia against Germany and Norway against the Czech Republic. 

Team USA and Team Canada will be in action again Tuesday at HSBC Arena in Buffalo.
