You've heard of different kinds of marathons before. No doubt, you've seen people run a marathon. You've probably heard of movie marathons where you watch one movie after another. But have you ever heard of a hair cutting marathon? There's one coming up soon in Hamburg for a very good cause.

What Is The 24-Hour Hair Cutting Marathon?

The 24-Hour Hair Cutting Marathon is something that has been created by Jason Lape at Jay's Barbershop in Hamburg (235 Buffalo Street) to remember one of their customers who they lost to suicide last year.

The event will include food trucks, carnival games, a cornhole tournament, a 50/50 raffle, basket raffles, and yes, a haircutting marathon that will go from 10 am Saturday, July 18th, through 10 am on Sunday, July 19th.

Why are they doing this?

The goal of the marathon is to not only honor their customer's memory, but to also raise awareness of suicide prevention and mental health. Their hope is to grow the event each year to inspire others to join them to promote hope, connection, and suicide prevention.

All of the proceeds of the event will benefit the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Erie County.
