This week's Hometown Hero is originally from Buffalo.  It's 26 year old Army Sergeant Katie Bauman!

Sergeant Bauman enlisted in the Army after graduating from Canisius College with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. After spending a few years in North Carolina as a ground medic she chose to reenlist as a flight medic and was re-stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. This past March she deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan.

Her brother wrote that she became a medic because she wanted to serve our county while saving wounded soldiers and adds that she has the biggest heart out of anyone he knows. She always puts her patients before herself and she is always the first person to reach out to someone in need. Her parents and her brothers could not be more proud of her. They certainly miss her but they also know that she is serving our country and making a difference in people's lives every day.

It’s because of her service to our country and to others that we are happy to call her this week’s Hometown Hero!  So we want to send her a huge thank you from everyone here for all that she does!

Remember, if you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, simply click the button below. We will honor a new Hometown Hero each week, and if their name is picked, not only do we mention them on the air but we also dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Thank you once again to Sergeant Katie Bauman, this week’s Hometown Hero!
