July 20th will mark the one year anniversary of that series of tornados that touched down in Western New York.  One of them hit the Erie County Fairgrounds and with wind speeds estimated at 115 mph it caused millions of dollars in damage to trees, buildings and other structures.

The timing couldn't be worse.  It came just weeks before the opening of the 2017 Erie County Fair. Incredibly, the Fair was ready to open just 20 days later thanks to the hard work of hundreds of people including Fairgrounds staff, private contractors and dedicated volunteers who worked non-stop.

To commemorate the community-wide effort to get the Fairgrounds back in order, Nick Charlap’s Ice Cream will offer small “twist” soft-serve ice cream cones on Friday, July 20th from 2 to 5 pm.  The offer is available only at Charlap's Village of Hamburg location at the intersection of Clark Street and South Park Avenue.
