I almost forgot that the ACA's were even on last night. I was flipping around and stumbled upon them and I thought I would give them a try. Last years didn't impress me very much and I thought perhaps things would have gotten better this year after all of the criticisms they took last year. After what I saw last night, I still am not impressed!First and foremost, the skits and conversations among the two hosts Trace Adkins and Kristen Chenoweth were not only cheesy but a little uncomfortable as well. Trace is not a host. He is a good guy and I like his music but if the ACA's is going to get me to watch next year they need to come up with someone else to cover that position. Secondly, allowing Kristen Chenoweth to perform on any show that calls itself a credible and established Country Awards show is one of the worst decisions you can make. She was terrible. How Scotty McCreery beat The Band Perry in any category on any show is beyond me. No disrespect to Scotty but that is apples and oranges. The fact that the show was put on by FOX may have something to do with it. After all it is the American Idol network.I could go on about the negative. But, there were some positives.

ALABAMA IS AMAZING!

Wow, that was the entire show for me. I was a little worried what might happen with their performance because it has been so long since they have been together. They blew me away. They did a mini montage of their hits including 'If You're Gonna Play In Texas" "Tennessee River" and "Mountain Music." They were out of this world good. Randy Owen's voice was superb and hasn't lost a thing  Jeff Cooke is still one of the top guitarists in Country Music.Watching them made the 2 hour debacle worth sitting through.

Some Other Positives

I was glad to see Thompson Square pick up a few awards. They are a great couple and I only expect great things from them in 2012. Blake Shelton's performance was right on as usual. he has settled in as a solid and comfortable and confident entertainer. He has definitely matured on stage at these things. He dedicated his award to his dad who he said "has been having a rough couple of weeks." I thought the Pistol Annies were great and the Toby Keith finale was well done although predictable. Throughout the broadcast you could see some of the fans with Red Solo Cups in hand.

Chris Young was good and seemed genuinely happy to accept his award, Carrie Underwood handled her acceptance well and was able to put on her best fake smile as she thanked the fans for their support. Jason Aldean was the big winner picking up 6 awards (which are blue electric guitars) and won for Album Of The Year for My Kinda Party. Taylor Swift was not even around and didn't win a single award. How is that possible? She just won the title Billboards Woman Of The Year and doesn't win a single award on a "Country" awards show?

Sorry Fox. Some of the performances were good. Over all, this was not only uncomfortable to watch, but, I was embarrassed watching that and thinking that people who don't know country music might think that this was what it is all about. That was just ugly!
