It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Keller Chevrolet and Batavia Downs gaming.  This Week’s Hometown Hero is a retired veteran originally from West Seneca, NY.  It’s 52 year old United States Air Force Technical Sergeant Karol Vaugan.

Karol’s nomination came from her daughters and it said:

My mom served 21 years in the Air Force. She joined when I was just 7 years old. She wanted to make a better living for my little sister and I. She served in Desert Storm, Tours in Kuwait, England and Korea. At the end of her career she served in Iraqi Freedom. She sacrificed her freedom, her time with us and her life to make a better and safer life for her kids. She tried to give us everything we needed and more. In the beginning of her Air Force career she would sacrifice so we could have food on the table, roof over our heads and the things we needed. Now that she is retired, she moved up to West Seneca to be closer to us kids and her grandkids! We are enjoying the time my sister and I didn't have with her as kids and I am blessed she is here to be able to be here to watch her grandchildren grow up. She is able to give my children the time and energy she didn't always have for us.
My mom has never been the type to sit around so she works at the Veterans hospital doing what she did in the service.

I'm so incredibly proud of my mom! She has overcome so many hardships in her life and she has given so much up for us. She is the bravest, strongest, most courageous and selfless person I know. She deserves a relaxing and slow lifestyle now.

Mom we love you and are so proud of you!

Love you to the moon & back!
Samantha & Erica
