I swear I saw my neighbor’s cat look both ways before it crossed the street.  It quickly ran down
the driveway….stopped at the end ….looked both ways, then crossed while looking
both ways as he did.

How smart are animals anyway?  Some scientific studies have shown dogs get jealous.  Ever notice it when you kiss your spouse or you ignore the dog for any length of time?   If you’re not paying attention to your dog he’ll start barking at you for attention.

Elephants are believed to mourn the death of other elephants – sometimes for days.  They’ll cover the body with branches and leaves and keep vigil, leaving only for food and water, then returning.

Parrots are believed to be about as smart as a five-year old child.  They can remember hundreds of things they experience in their lives and respond to questions and give simple answers.  Their language is limited
though.  Some parrots have been known to remember basic math facts.

That’s nothing compared to monkeys and apes.  They’re known to use tools and even make spears for hunting.  They’ll even share their knowledge with others for things like making a shelter for themselves.

The experiences of a cat when it’s a kitten forms their personality for the rest of their lives.   If they’ve had good interaction with people or other animals, it will determine how they react as adult cats.

Pigs are among the most intelligent animals, smarter than even dogs.  They rank fourth behind chimpanzees, dolphins and elephants.  Even if they’re given names, young pigs will remember their names and respond when they’re called.
