Stolen Emergency Vehicle From Cheektowaga Fire Department Has Been Found
Thieves are becoming braver (in the worst way possible) by the minute. When they're willing to take an emergency vehicle from a fire department, it shows that they have very little concern about being caught.
The Emergency Truck Was Taken From The Bellvue Fire Department Fire Hall
A few hours ago, the Cheektowaga Police Department sent out a request for help from the public to find a stolen emergency vehicle. They were looking for information to help them find a white Chevrolet Silverado with emergency lights and a siren. It was marked all over the place with "Bellvuew Fire Dist. 9" on the rear and sides of the truck.
It was taken around 9:30 am from the fire hall after a burglary overnight. The fire hall is at 511 Como Park Boulevard.
Just Hours Later, The Truck Has Been Found
Just before 4 pm, they sent out another message on social media saying that the vehicle had been found. They thanked everyone for their cooperation in helping them to find the truck. It was unoccupied somewhere in Lackawanna.
They're currently launching an investigation to help find the person who took the vehicle.
How bold to you have to be to take an emergency vehicle?
There used to be a belief that when you had a vehicle with more identifying features on it, you would have less of a chance of having it stolen because it would make it harder for the thief to get away with it.
That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Now, it seems like it doesn't matter that much how easily it can be identified. If someone is willing to take a vehicle with that many markings all over it, what is going to stop them from taking another?
