Why is Easter such a big holiday in the United States?
Easter is one of the biggest holidays that we celebrate here in the United States. Along with Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the Fourth of July, they're the ones that we do our best to get together with our families.
If you're a religious person, Easter is a celebration of the rising of Jesus Christ after dying on the cross. If you're not religious, it's a holiday that celebrates spring and newness. It's a symbol of growth and a restart.
Why do we go to brunch on Easter?
Aside from the fact that we all have to eat to survive, why do we go out for brunch on Easter? There's no doubt it's a tradition for many families to go out to brunch. The National Restaurant Association's decades of tracking statistics show Easter is the fifth busiest holiday in restaurants.
As far as timing goes, it's perfect for Easter. For many families, it happens right after they get out of their church service. It's late enough in the day that more lunch types of foods are appropriate, but still early enough that breakfast foods work too.
Plus, going out helps to avoid making someone else have to cook on a holiday.
What kind of food do they serve at brunch?
Most of the time, the brunch menu will consist of things like mimosas, pastries like bagels and donuts or croissants and muffins, ham, and of course some hard boiled or scrambled eggs. Sometimes it will include things like fruits and veggie trays, pancakes, and waffles, bacon, even a pasta dish in some cases.
