New Year's Eve is just days away, and if you're looking to celebrate right here in Buffalo, there's a big party planned to send 2025 out in style.

Everything You Need To Know About The Buffalo New Year's Eve Ball Drop

The city of Buffalo holds a ball drop every year, just like they do in New York City. In fact, it's considered the second-largest ball drop event in the nation, second only to the one held in New York City. Today, they announced that it will be coming back for the 38th year.

What:

The Annual City of Buffalo New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Celebration at the Electric Tower

Where:

At The Electric Tower in Downtown Buffalo. It's right at the intersection of Main, Genesee, and Huron Streets

When:

Wednesday, December 31, 2025, starting at 10 PM.

This is a family-friendly event. It helps to support the Police Athletic League of Buffalo, which funds free programs that serve youth throughout the City of Buffalo.

“New Year’s Eve in downtown Buffalo is a tradition that brings our community together. This celebration reflects the spirit of our city — welcoming, vibrant, and full of pride — and we encourage residents and visitors alike to join us as we ring in 2026 together.” -Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon.

Once again, there will be live music starting with saxophonist Will Holton and Buffalo’s own The Strictly Hip.. The ball drop will happen just before midnight and the night will end with fireworks provided by SkyLighters of WNY.

It is an outdoor event and is free to attend.
