Bills Starter Won’t Play Against Titans; 3 More Could Also Miss
The Buffalo Bills are just two days away from their 2022 regular season home opener at Highmark Stadium.
They will host the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football on ESPN. Kickoff will be at 7:15 pm instead of the usual 8:20 pm start time; this is due to the fact the Minnesota Vikings will play at the Philadelphia Eagles at 8:30 pm on ABC.
The Bills are 10-point favorites against the Titans but unlike week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams, the Bills are dealing with quite a few key injuries.
Defensive tackles Ed Oliver and Tim Settle have missed practice all week; Oliver with an ankle injury and Settle with a calf injury.
On Saturday, the Bills officially ruled out Oliver for Monday night. Settle will also likely not play, as he’s listed as doubtful.
Cornerback Dane Jackson who missed two days at practice for a knee injury is questionable and what came as a surprise to everyone, the Bills also listed wide receiver Gabriel Davis questionable with an ankle injury.
With Oliver and Settle (doubtful) out, that means DaQuan Jones and Jordan Phillips will play quite a few snaps against the Titans and running back Derrick Henry. If Jackson cannot go, that would mean rookies Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford would start against former Bills WR Robert Woods and rookie Treylon Burks.
If Davis can’t go, then that means we could see Jake Kumerow get work as an outside receiver, while Khalil Shakir will most likely be active for Monday night.
Stefon Diggs and Dawson Knox could be leaned on even more in that scenario.
