Buffalo is just the latest major city to cancel their parade.

Mayor Brown says it was a difficult decision but the health of the public was the most important thing on the mind.

“This was a difficult decision for the organizers, but they made that decision keeping the health and safety of this community in mind and wanting to make sure that there was no opportunity for these two great events to spread coronavirus in Buffalo and Western New York,” said Brown, D-Buffalo.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz echoes that the public's health is the most important and he understands people will be disappointed. This comes after sources told WIVB the parades would be cancelled.

The Old First Ward parade was supposed to take place Saturday and the downtown parade on Delaware Avenue was su[pposed to take place on Sunday.
