BREAKING: All SUNY School Campuses Set to Close
This afternoon New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus on campuses, all SUNY and CUNY schools will switch to off-campus distant learning classes on March 19th.
According to WIVB, the closures will last until the end of the semester.
Cuomo says the school campuses will close March 19, and this will last the remainder of the semester.
Politico.com also reported that nearly 300 SUNY students had been recalled from studying overseas as well.
300 SUNY and CUNY students studying abroad in coronavirus hotbeds China, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran, who will be quarantined for 14 days at various locations throughout the state. The bulk of those are SUNY students and a university spokesperson said that it has about 200 students in Italy, 40 in South Korea, 20 in Japan and none in either China or Iran.
D'Youville also announced that they would be switching to online classes only as well on March 19th.
