The Buffalo Bandits are heading into the NLL Finals this week to defend their title.  You'll notice a subtle nod to one of their biggest fans on their helmets.

It's a huge weekend for Banditland.  The Bandits are headed to Albany to take on the Firewolves for game one of the National Lacrosse League Finals to defend their title.  While they're there, you might notice a new sticker on their helmets.  It's there to honor a person that they describe as "an impactful friend of the Buffalo community and a member of our Bandits family"

Tommy Cowan was a well known restauranteur here in Buffalo.  He was known for his association and co-ownership of multiple beloved bars and restaurants like Doc Sullivans, 500 Pearl, Forty Thieves Kitchen & Bar, Patrick's Rooftop, and more.

Multiple people have spoken up for Tommy Cowan and mentioned how he helped them in their time of need and supported their restaurants.

He recently passed away suddenly on May 6th.

To honor Cowan who was a big supporter of the Buffalo Bandits, they will be wearing stickers on their helmets throughout the end of the finals.  They are white with the letters "TC" on them in blue.

The first of three games will start tonight in Albany, then there will be another tomorrow night here in Buffalo at Keybank Center.  If necessary, there will be a third game back in Albany for the Championship.  This is the first time the Bandits are defending a championship since 2009.
