We've known for months what teams the Buffalo Bills will play during the regular season and on Thursday night we found out when.  The NFL has released its 2018 schedule and for Bills fans the biggest excitement is that New Era Field will host a Monday night game for the first time since 2008.  And the opponent?  None other than the New England Patriots.  That game will be played on October 29th.  And that game in Week 8 will be the first time the Bills play a division opponent.

Since beating the Cleveland Browns 29-27 at home in a Monday night game in 2008, the Bills have made only three appearances on Monday nights, all on the road and lost all three; two to the Patriots and one to Seattle.

This is going to be a tough schedule for the Bills because they play only two of their first seven games at home.  At a time of year when the weather is best during the football season in Western New York, the Bills will be on the road.

The Bills open the season on the road at Baltimore.  It was the Ravens loss to Cincinnati in last year's season finale that put the Bills in the playoffs for the first time.

The Bills home opener is against the Los Angeles Chargers and former Bills coach Anthony Lynn.  It was just last year when the Chargers embarrassed the Bills 54-24, the game where quarterback Nathan Peterman was intercepted five times in the first half.  It'll be a chance for the Bills to return the favor.

After the home opener, the Bills have tough back to back games, again on the road, against NFC North opponents, at Minnesota and at Green Bay.  That's a tall order.

Just like last year the Bills will close the season with a heavy dose of AFC East opponents with four of the five dates in December against their division rivals.  They play the Dolphins twice in December, at Miami on December 2nd and close the season at home against the Dolphins on December 30th.  They host the Jets on December 9th and their rematch against the Patriots will be in Week 16, Sunday, December 23rd at Foxboro.

On the other hand the Bills will play four of their final six games of the season at home.  Does anybody at the NFL office remember last year's snow game against the Colts?  Maybe that's what they're hoping for.
