Buffalo Bills Place Von Miller on Injured Reserve
The Buffalo Bills are preparing for the New England Patriots tonight, which will be played in Foxborough on Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. It will be shown locally in the Buffalo TV market on channel 7.
The Bills will not have left tackle Dion Dawkins, who was hurt last Thursday against the Detroit Lions. Edge rusher Von Miller was also hurt against Detroit on Thanksgiving and while he did not tear his ACL, he did tear his lateral meniscus.
There was some hope Miller could return against the New York Jets or Miami Dolphins, but on Thursday afternoon, the Bills decided that would not happen.
The Bills have placed Miller on injured reserve. This means he will miss at least four games, which is the rule now with NFL injured reserve.
Miller could miss ore time but we don't know that yet. Placing Miller on IR now allows the Bills to free up a spot on the 53-man roster and allows him time to heal.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane said that they don't want to rush Miller back. Placing Miller on IR now also allows them to count tonight's game towards the four-game minimum.
Meniscus tears come in all sizes, shapes and severities; so we didn't know how long Miller would be out
This means that the team will depend more on Greg Rousseau and A.J. Epenesa on getting to the quarterback. Both are back tonight after missing time because of ankle injuries.
