JUST IN: Buffalo Bills Make Important Free Agent Signing
The Buffalo Bills will have three extra days of much needed rest before their next game.
That next game happens to be a Sunday Night Football game vs the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals offense is finally all the way back to their old self, beating the San Francisco 49ers yesterday.
The Bills need to win to keep pace with the 6-2 Miami Dolphins, who travel all the way to Germany to play the Kansas City Chiefs, who are also 6-2. If the Bills can pull off a slight upset win vs the Bengals in Cincinnati, they will have a chance to be the top seed in the AFC East and second place in the conference.
The NFL trade deadline is tomorrow at 4 pm and chances are the Bills will be buyers; potentially looking at wide receiver, cornerback or linebacker.
General manager Brandon Beane is not waiting though. The Bills GM is reportedly making a move today.
According to Bleacher Report NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bills are signing veteran free agent running back Lenoard Fournette.
Fournette has spent the past three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, getting both goal-line work and Tom Brady's safety blanket for check-down passes. With Brady retired, Fournette has been sitting out so far as a free agent. The former 4th overall pick (2017) spent the first three years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fournette is 28 years old and while he's on the downside of his career, he can still help a Bills team with goal-line work and as a pass catcher. He's a little more skilled than Latavius Murray, and can also help in pass protection.
We will see if Fournettte will play this Sunday night or if the coaching staff waits to activate him.
