The Bills Could Play On Thanksgiving and Christmas Day This Year

The NFL Combine is over with, the height of free agency is through, and we are past the NFL Draft. That means there’s only one thing to look forward to during the off-season before we head into the summer and training camp…the NFL schedule release.

The full NFL schedule release will take place next Thursday night at 8 pm, EST.

It’s something that fans look forward to every single spring. Buffalo Bills fans circle it on their calendar.

However, even though the NFL does its best to keep the schedule under wraps every year, leaks and reports get out the 24-48 hours before the schedule comes out. Last year was no different, as we learned the Bills would play the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving 10 or so hours before the schedule was released.

This year adds to excitement to the schedule release, because for the first time ever, the NFL will have three games on Christmas Day.

Christmas falls on a Sunday and the NFL will take full advantage of it.

Mike North, the NFL VP of broadcasting, confirmed the three-game Christmas Day slate in April.

The Buffalo Bills are the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl in Arizona in February of 2023. The NFL has enjoyed both on-air product success and ratings success when having the Bills on prime time the last three seasons.

The Bills are absolutely in play to be one of the six teams to play on Christmas Day; and how special would it be if it were in Orchard Park?

What about Thanksgiving?

The Bills also could play on Thanksgiving. They visit the Detroit Lions in 2022 and the Lions traditionally play on Turkey Day at 12:30 pm, EST.

With how good the Bills are and the fact they’re a great draw, the Bills have decent odds to play on Thanksgiving for a third time in four seasons.

There’s already speculation on Twitter that the Bills could play again on Thanksgiving, and this year will feature the NFL’s TV networks slowly revealing the schedule as next week progresses.
