There is a new beer being unveiled at Riverworks this weekend and it has firefighters written all over it.  It's for the firefighters, by the firefighters.

It's even got the perfect name.  They're calling it "Backdraft."  Want to try it?  According to WKBW, they're having a special launch party on Saturday (6/26) at 2:00 pm at Riverworks and they'd love it if the whole community came out to support it.

The beer is a joint effort between Riverworks and the Buffalo Professional Firefighters Local 282.

Where is Riverworks?

You can't miss it.  Coming from the Southtowns it's right off Route 5 in Buffalo.  Take the Ohio Street exit.  Turn right on Ohio street from the exit then turn left on Ganson (the bridge is out there anyway...there isn't another option other than to turn left.)

In the city, just take Michigan to Ganson...you'll see it there on your left.

Does it cost anything to come to the launch party?

It doesn't cost anything.  Just coming to the event is free. The firefighters are looking forward to an opportunity to meet members of the community in a relaxed setting.  Normally they're meeting with people in one of the most stressful moments of their lives.  They're looking forward to the chance to talk to people from the community in a less stressful moment.

Can we bring our kids?

Absolutely.  It will be a family friendly event. They will even have the Greater Buffalo Firefighters Pipes and Drums band to help kick off the launch.

Can I get the beer in cans?  Or just on draft?

You'll be able to do both.  The Session IPA will be available on draft and in a 4 pack of cans.

Where do the proceeds from the sale of the beer go?

They are going to a foundation that will benefit union members and the community.
