Many people have asked if they could walk this over the years, and now you have an opportunity!

The Buffalo Marathon weekend is one of the busiest weekends for Western New Yorkers during the entire year. It’s typically held on Memorial Day Weekend, which usually comes with the usual plans and cookouts, but it’s also a weekend where many runners and community members race towards a cause.

It’s also a Boston Qualifier, and it’s a good race to run for that too, as it is typically a fast and flat route.

All the donations from the Buffalo Marathon weekend will go to the cardiac programs at Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute.

Not everyone can run a marathon, but one thing is for sure: when you live in Buffalo, NY, you want to be part of a movement that is bigger than yourself.

Only about .01% of the global population has run a marathon, according to Running With Grit.

Which is why it makes perfect sense that the Buffalo Marathon is looking to expand their reach to others who may not otherwise register for the race weekend.

The Buffalo Marathon will be adding a 5k walk event this year for the first time, in hopes that more people who want to walk with strollers and participate in the big weekend of activities.

The 5k Walk will take place on Saturday, May 27 at 8:15 AM, which is 15 minutes after the 5k Run begins.

Both of those races start and end at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

The cost to register for the race is $35, but the price will go up by $10 at the end of the month. All walkers will receive a finisher shirt and a finisher medal, and they will receive some on-the-go food upon finishing the race.

If you want to register for the walk, you can do so here
