Buffalo Public Schools Will Not Re-Open Classrooms Until February at Eariest
There was some big news out of the Buffalo Public Schools on Wednesday evening.
According to WIVB, the Buffalo Public Schools will not re-open classrooms until February 1, at the earliest. The neediest students will be allowed back for in-person learning starting on February 1, according to Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash.
Dr. Cash says the plan is to not re-open schools for in-person learning while the pandemic is surging, which it currently is in Western New York as the expected second wave of COVID-19 cases,
In fact, Dr. Cash says February will be just "phase one" of the district's reopening plan. According to the detailed plan, it will be a parent's choice on February 1, whether or not they want remote learning or in-person learning.
The district will be surveying parents in January to determine how many students will be coming back for in-person learning and make the appropriate accommodations.
