According to WIVB, the 38th annual Canal Fest of the Tonawandas has been canceled, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers of Canal Fest made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon. The festival was supposed to take place in July.

Rescheduling of the event is not possible because of road repair projects in North Tonawanda that have already been pushed back due to COVID-19. However, there is still the possibility of having a Fall festival in its place this year. That has yet to be determined.

My dad and I used to always go to Canal Fest when I was a kid since we lived in nearby Amherst. It's a sad day for annual festival-goers.
