It's really exciting to think that after six years of planning and fundraising, construction can start this fall on the Autism Nature Trail, or ANT. The one-mile, ADA compliant trail will feature eight stations that can be calming and interactive for those with autism and other conditions at the Humphrey Nature Center inside Letchworth State Park.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I am an expert nor have I ever lived with anyone with autism, but I have learned a lot in the past couple of weeks and after meeting so many young adults and kids in the autism community, I think it's so important to spread awareness and their message: be kind and accepting of one another.

If you watch the video at the top of this article, you'll see how much research and care went into this project. You can really see the passion from Loren Penman, ANT co-chairman, and that's part of the reason Cellino Plumbing, Heating and Cooling chose them for their Nonprofit Truck Wrap Contest.

This is a really cool promotion: One of the Cellino's trucks has been wrapped in ANT branding and 5 percent of the revenue generated by that truck over 12 months will be donated to the trail.

ANT leaders are about $600,000 away from the $3 million they'll need to start construction, and they are hoping to hit that milestone by the end of the month. If you'd like to donate, just visit autismnaturetrail.com.
